LATEST NEWS

Emory Johnson is a Reel Voices Class of 2012 alum. Their summer at PacArts started their path towards community building and documentary filmmaking. Emory has continued their ties with Reel Voices as an assistant for Reel Voices Class of 2013 and as a student mentor for Amy Loeber (Class of 2016) and Kimberly Moreno Chavez (Class of 2017).

Currently, Emory is a programming coordinator at Visual Communications' 2018 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and a coordinator at A-Doc (the Asian American Documentary Network). As an assistant at the UCLA Center for EthnoCommunications, Emory has been working on the Lau Chinese American History Mini-Docs Project. In Fall 2018, Emory will begin the MFA Production/Directing program with a focus in Documentary at UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television.

As a UCLA EthnoCommunications student, Emory directed "The Weight Off My Chest," a documentary short about a college student undergoing top surgery and exploring the gender spectrum. The film will have its world premiere at the 2018 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival in May.
